The Passive Citizen

AUnion Sq copy

Watch the world blow up in flames—

Who cares?

Watch the clouds of men who fight

History’s blades with their bare hands—

Who cares, who cares?

Specks of time—the sky is vast

And my TV screen seems so far apart—

Who cares, who cares, who cares?

Sweet is the taste of oblivious rest

Lost in a mist of irrelevant lust.

Timeless is the dumbness of the cold mass

And the solitude of the best—

Who cares?

Things will change without my help.
